Abstract
Estimates of pollution of Volga mouth area in 2016 are given. Data on the distribution of water flow into the Lower Volga and the results of state environmental monitoring were used to calculate pollutant concentrations in water and bottom sediments in Volga mouth area. The results were obtained separately for the Volga delta, as well as the shallow and deep-water zones of the nearshore. Integrated estimates of water pollution level were obtained with the use of algorithms for calculation of complexity factor, combinatorial pollution index, and specific combinatorial pollution index. The integrated estimates of water quality in 2016 were dirty in the Volga delta, moderately polluted in the shallow nearshore zone, and pure in the deep-water nearshore zone.
