Abstract
Perfect pollen-stigma compatibility was observed in direct and reciprocal crosses of Capsicum annuum L. X Capsicum frutescens L, but plants failed to set fruit after artificial pollination under both field and greenhouse conditions. Pollen tubes reach the ovules within 24 hours of pollination.
