Abstract

Pollen spectra from surface sediments of 29 lakes and ponds in Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky show high values of oak (mean 29%) and ragweed (mean 30%) and low percentages of conifer pollen. The data as a whole represent the oak-hickory forest, although pollen spectra from smaller ponds show considerable variation. Revised isopoll maps are presented for oak, ragweed, hickory and elm.
