Abstract

The role of hawkmoths as pollen dispersers is poorly understood; a recent review by Levin and Kerster (1974) does not cite a single study of dispersal by these pollinators. This report deals with a brief study of pollen dispersal in the tropical shrub Lindenia rivalis Benth. (Rubiaceae) which usually grows in scattered linear populations along streams. The work was done on 18-20 June 1973 in the Columbia Forest (Toledo District), Belize.
