Abstract

Pollen dimorphism in Oldenlandia scopulorum Bull., Hedyotis nigricans ( Lam.) Fosb., Pentas lanceolata ( Forsk.) Defl., dimorphic heterostyled species of the family Rubiaceae is described. In all the three species studied, small pollen grains are found in short anthers of pin flowers and large pollen grains with the long anthers of thrum flowers. A diagnosis of pin and thrum pollen grains in the species is given. In the species studied the exine of pin pollen is much finer than that of thrum pollen grains.
