Abstract Abstract Extract At the end of a year of office, the President is required to make comment to members on items of importance to the profession. Such an address comes at a time when the president will for several years have been involved with council activities and may well have been a member of the New Zealand Veterinary Association for 15 or 20 years or more. It is true to say that “one knows more of a road by having travelled it than by all the conjectures and descriptions in the world”, but the background against which I address you this year is somewhat different.
