Abstract

To citizens of other democratic nations, the increasing opposition to communism by the Italian people is a heartening development. The struggle against communism in Italy is being fought in the ranks of labor as well as in the national political arena. John Norman examines the forces involved in this struggle--the Communists, Socialists, the Catholic Church, American labor leaders, the ECA program--as they have influenced the organization and character of the Italian labor movement.
