Abstract

In these pages I offer a reflection on political leadership and political education today, pursuing an important theme in Weber's writings. Political judgement is essential to the theme. I suggest that changes in the external conditions of modern politics as understood by Weber, and the culture of capitalism as perceived by Simmel, pose a severe challenge for informed citizenship and the exercise of political judgement. I conclude with an appeal for affirmative Weberian retrieval.
