Abstract

Physicians’ political affiliations may influence health care policy and patient care in the United States (US) through individual contributions to both partisan and nonpartisan political action organizations. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons tend to donate to Republican-affiliated candidates and campaigns.1 Among the specialty, the degree and geographic distribution of political contributions over time have not been investigated. The primary research objective was to estimate the magnitude and geographic differences in political contributions made by oral and maxillofacial surgeons between 2013 and 2022.
