espanolEl presente articulo expone el vinculo entre las ideas politicas y disciplinares respecto al funcionamiento de las universidades chilenas. Durante sus inicios las ideas politicas determinaron la funcion de las universidades desde una sintesis liberal-conservadora que priorizaba que las instituciones de estudios superiores se enfocaran en la inspeccion y regulacion de una ensenanza segmentada. Este consenso liberal-conservador se debilita a inicios del siglo XX y abre paso a un robustecimiento de las ideas disciplinares plasmadas en diversas unidades dentro de las universidades. La estrategia metodologica empleada en este estudio fue el diseno cualitativo. Para analizar e interpretar las fuentes primarias y secundarias se utilizaron elementos del analisis semantico y analisis de contenido del discurso. EnglishThis article exposes the link between political and disciplinary ideas regarding the functioning of Chilean universities. During its early stages, the role of universities was shaped by political ideas from a liberal-conservative synthesis that prioritized the focus on the inspection and regulation of segmented education. This liberal-conservative consensus dwindles at the beginning of the twentieth century and opens the way to the strengthening of disciplinary ideas in several units within the universities. The methodological strategy used in this study was qualitative design. Elements of semantic analysis and discourse content analysis were used to analyze and interpret primary and secondary sources.
