Abstract

The article includes the research results in the field of food systems in Poland in the context of the F2F Strategy objectives. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of the objectives of the F2F Strategy on the food systems in Poland. The research method applied in the study is the critical analysis of the source literature, statistical methods and scenario method. Attention was paid to such elements of food systems as yields, soil fertility, biodiversity, water resources and land use. According to the research conducted, an increase in the yields of the main crop plants in Poland (ranging from 30% for potatoes to 66% for cereals) was the result of a growth in the consumption of mineral fertilizers by 51.2% and plant protection products by 266.7%, which, under the F2F Strategy objectives, should be reduced. In Poland, it is necessary to use mineral fertilizers in order to supplement the shortage of phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. The resources of freshwater are at a level of 60.6 billion m3 , which classifies Poland in the group of EU countries mostly exposed to water shortage. One of the main objectives of the F2F Strategy is to achieve at least 25% of the EU's agricultural land under organic farming by 2030. With reference to Poland, this objective is particularly difficult to fulfil, because the share of organic farmland in the area of agricultural land from the record 4.6% in 2013 decreased to 3.5% in 2020.
