Abstract

Political Leadership through Prime Ministers’ eyes This research aims to understand political leadership in the 21st century from the Finnish Prime Ministers’ (PM) subjective perspective. Theoretical framework is founded on earlier research on political leadership and on paradigm shift to new public governance. The research is qualitative, based on theme interviews with eight PMs and carried out with content analysis. The research describes PM as leader of Government and country, as network and program leader, as solver of complex problems, and as heavy burdened leader who struggles with different dilemmas and huge publicity.
