Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the nature of existing state school attendance policies for children with acquired immune-deficiency syndrome (AIDS). In addition, responses from a brief survey instrument were used to secure information regarding the development and use of these policies. Results indicated that the majority of states had developed policies emphasizing the education of children with AIDS within the regular classroom setting, the use of preventive measures enhancing hygiene and sanitary practices, and the involvement of health officials as appropriate.
