Abstract

Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) is a widely used policy research tool which enables the researcher to bring out the distortions and inefficacies of a policy and, thereby, to suggest the required policy changes for profitability of an industry or a sector or a country. PAM has plausible strengths adding to its scope in the field of agricultural policy research. Though it appears simple in its output form, it requires a deep review of literature even to understand and apply. This review paper brings together the applications, strengths and weaknesses of PAM. This paper also presents possible past modifications carried out to overcome the difficulty in application of PAM. This tool can be explored by researchers to numerous possibilities that facilitate the research.
