Abstract

A theoretical survey will be given of the properties of quasi-two-dimensional polarons in a magnetic field. One polaron and many-polaron effects will be discussed. The cyclotron resonance absorption spectrum of a gas of quasi-two-dimensional polarons is calculated using linear response theory. The calculation is based on a memory function formalism. Band non-parabolicity and the many-body character of the system with inclusion of the full dynamical screening of the electron-phonon interaction is incorporated. Comparison is made with experimental results on the cyclotron mass in GaAs/Al x Ga1−x As heterostructures. We found that for electron densities larger than 1.4 × 1011 cm −2 the polaron mass renormalization is smaller than for the corresponding bulk GaAs system.KeywordsCyclotron ResonanceLandau LevelLinear Response TheoryPolaron EffectCyclotron MassThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
