Abstract

With use of a Peierls continuum description of a linearly conjugated diatomic polymer, (AB${)}_{x}$, with nondegenerate ground states, it is found that the polymer possesses polaron, bipolaron, and multipolaron excitations. Unlike the nondegenerate (A${)}_{x}$ system, each one of these excitations is stable only within a range of the confinement parameter \ensuremath{\gamma}. In addition, an exact solution for a diamagnetic bipolaron lattice is found at higher dopant concentrations.
