Abstract

Polarizability and binding energy values are estimated for a shallow donor confined to move in a quantum well wire with a rectangular and square cross-section. We present our results for the polarizability as a function of the size of the wire. The electron–longitudinal optical (LO) phonon interaction is taken into account using the adiabatic approximation. It is found that the polaronic effects decrease significantly the polarizability and increase with increasing wire size.
