Abstract

The single-sweep polarographic behaviour of Eu(III)-TTHA (triethylenetetraaminehexaacetic acid) complex was studied. In 0.1 mol l −1 NH 4Cl + 0.1 mol l −1 NH 3 solution, the electrode reaction of the complex is [Eu(III)L] 3− + e → Eu(II) + L 6− and the polarographic current is controlled by the diffusion process of the complex. The method can be used to determine trace Eu concentrations in the range 2.5 × 10 −6-5.0 × 10 −4 mol l −1 in solution.
