Abstract

A practical method for the polarographic determination of yttrium is described. The procedure is based on the reduction of the yttrium-solochrome violet RS (SVRS) complex. Experimental conditions include the use of Triton X-100 in order to achieve good separation of the Y-SVRS and SVRS peaks. Application of the procedure to the determination of yttrium as a major component in the superconductor YBa 2Cu 3O y gave good results.
