Abstract

The 90° cross section for the 12C(t, γ 0) 15N reaction was measured for E t from 2.3 to 6.5 MeV. Polarized and unpolarized angular distribution data were obtained for E 1 = 2.27, 3.24 and 5.95 MeV. The resulting a 2 and b 2 coefficients are compared to the predictions of a direct capture (cluster) model. This model gives a reasonably good description of the qualitative behavior observed in the experiment, although it predicts an absolute cross section which is an order of magnitude smaller than any observed cross section.
