Abstract

We describe a simple method for obtaining spin‐ and Q2‐dependent nonsinglet quark momentum distributions starting from any set of unpolarized QCD‐evolved quark distributions. The method is applied to a set having an analytic parametrization valid for the range 5 GeV2≤Q2≤108 GeV2. We find that a significant fraction of the proton’s spin is carried by the valence quarks, at moderate values of x, even at Q2≊108 GeV2.
