Abstract
I show that the recent EMC data on polarized deep inelastic scattering (DIS) challenge in an essential way perturbative QCD (PQCD). This strong statement results from an analysis, carried out in collaboration with Soffer, of the available knowledge on the strange quark sea. A successful prediction of polarized DIS is recalled, and its relation with the free-field light cone operator product expansion (LCOPE) is clarified.
