Abstract

An arrangement and a method are provided using Jones matrix- based analysis for a polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (OCT) system using fiber-optic components. The interferometric information provided by the OCT system is processed to reduce a polarization effect created by fiber-optic components of the OCT system. Then, an amount of diattenuation of a sample is determined. Additionnaly an apparatus and a method are provided for transmitting radaition to a sample and to a reference. The frequency of the electromagnetic radiation is varied over time and a polarization modulating arrangement controls the polarization state of the radiation.
