Abstract

The LHE facilities and beams used for polarization studies of few nucleon systems are characterized. Recent results of experiments on deuteron breakup at 0° and elastic backward dp scattering with unpolarized target bring to the conclusion that the available data display new features which hardly could be interpreted within the conventional picture of the deuteron as a 2-nucleon system with nucleons being in relative S and D orbital states.
