Abstract

Strontium monoiodide radicals have been produced from the reaction of Sr and NaI in a heat pipe oven. Spectra of the B 2Σ +- X 2Σ +(0,0) transition around 674 nm were recorded using Dopplerfree laser polarization spectroscopy. With the help of microwave labeling and additional band selective detection of the laser-induced fluorescence a rotational analysis could be performed. The optical data were combined with the results of independent microwave measurements of the X 2Σ + state in a weighted least-squares fit. The main spectroscopic constants of the SrI B 2Σ + ( v = 0) state are T 00 =14820.1619(7) cm −1, B 0 = 0.03781349(28) cm −1 and γ sr,0 = −0.101235(32) (2σ errors in parentheses).
