Miller, J. S. ; Clark, F. O. ; Troland, T. H. Abstract The polarization properties of the v = 1, J = 2-1, SiO circumstellar maser emission from Mira are measured over a period of 3.5 years. Spectra are presented of Stokes parameter I and linear polarization. The line profiles from Mira are made up of a small number of narrow features which may be discerned in the profile, each having a well-defined position angle of maximum linear polarization. Individual features seem to persist for an optical period, then disappear at or near optical maximum. The continuity observed in these features identifies an element of order in the SiO masers. Flux variations in the majority of individual profile features appear to follow the optical cycle, as does the total integrated flux.
