Abstract
Anisotropic thin films are widely used in sensors, optical devices and other fields. Ordered CdSe@CdS nanorods anisotropic film was fabricated by a simple and low cost self-assembly technology. Both parallel arrangement and hexagonal close-packed arrangement of the nanorods were observed due to the entropy driven mechanism. Green fluorescence centered at 535 nm can be obtained under an excitation of 325 nm ultraviolet light. The photoluminescence intensity of the CdSe@CdS nanorods film periodically varied with the polarization angle. The polarization ratio of the photoluminescence is <tex>$0.16\pm 0.02$</tex>, which indicates the film can be used in ultraviolet polarization detection.
