Abstract

The authors report on an investigation of the spectral-polarization characteristics of fluorescence of a number of polymethine dyes in various solvents, over a broad range of variation of viscosity. This information is urgently needed because of the extensive laser applications of the solutions of polymethine dyes as the active media and the control elements of lasers for the near-IR region of the spectrum. The spectral-luminescence characteristics of the dye solutions were investigated in a Spex Fluorolog spectrofluorimeter.
