Abstract

This paper presents the design of a polarization insensitive microwave absorber based on metamaterial for electromagnetic energy harvesting. The unit cell of the metamaterial consists of eight-fold rotational symmetric electric resonator printed on FR4 substrate with a ground plane to realize both electric and magnetic resonances to achieve efficient absorption of the incident microwave energy. The electromagnetic simulation results of our absorber demonstrates high microwave absorption up to 92% for different polarized incident electromagnetic waves, from 0 to 90 for both transverse electric wave and transverse magnetic wave.
