Abstract

A novel design of frequency selective surface (FSS) is presented in this paper. Multi-resonant type structure is adopted in the element design, which consists of symmetrical microstrip units printed on two sides of the thin substrate. The basic type of FSS achieves a second-order bandpass property in the X band, and two transmission zeros exist on both sides of the passband. In addition, an improved FSS structure is developed by 90° rotating the basic unit cells. Stable bandpass transmission responses are achieved for either the TE or TM polarized incident waves.
