Abstract

In the discussion1) of this topic presented at the Madison conference five years ago, a table listing the transfer reactions for which polarization effects had been measured up to that time was given. The great majority of the experiments involved measurement of the vector analyzing power, and a total of around 200 transitions had been studied. In the five years since the Madison meeting, measurements on over 400 additional transitions have been carried out. While most of these studies involve (d,p) and (d,t) reactions, results on several other transfer reactions have now been reported. The present discussion attempts to give a representative sample of recent work, but does not treat the large amount of work which has been done on few-nucleon systems. Measurements of deuteron tensor analyzing powers are omitted from this summary, since they are discussed in more detail in the following paper.
