Abstract

The influence of substituents on the chromatographic retention parameters is investigated. With six series of substances, it is shown that the considered parameters correlate with the Hammett-Taft constants. It is established that, in gas adsorption and gas-liquid chromatography, the influence of substituents on the retention parameters is a combination of three components: inductive, resonance, and polarization effects.
