Abstract

High-resolution polarization-sensitive nonlinear laser spectroscopy is used to investigate spin-dependent and spin-independent nonlinear optical properties of excitons in bulk GaAs. The spectral response due to spin-dependent interactions reveals a resonance with an excitation-density-independent redshift relative to the exciton resonance. Possible origins of the redshifted resonance are considered, including lh-lh biexcitons with a binding energy of \ensuremath{\sim}0.2 meV.
