Abstract

Experimental results for the probability ratio R3 during three-photon ionization of Ca, Sr and Ba atoms in circularly and linearly polarized fields are presented for the principal quantum number range n=4-13. Unlike the alkali atoms, in most cases the measured R3 magnitudes are considerably less than the values estimated by the Klarsfield-Maquet factorial formula.
