Abstract

The modified Lorentz-Mossotti method is used to determine the polarization correction to the mean macroscopic electric field in plasma as a function of the electron density, the density of the medium, and the electron and ion temperatures. It is demonstrated that, at high electron densities, the polarization correction may play a decisive role in estimating various electrodynamic characteristics of conducting media.
