Abstract
A polarization and frequency reconfigurable dielectric resonator antenna with two-port probe feed is proposed. This antenna is made up of a rectangular dielectric resonator, two probes, a Wilkinson equal power divider and three pairs of adjustable phase shifters using electric switches. By controlling the on-off states of different shifters, polarization and frequency reconfigurable performance is achieved. When the phase difference of the two feed path is 90 degree, left-hand and right-hand circularly polarized characteristics are obtained with same wide impedance and axial ratio bandwidth for the structural symmetry. When the feed paths are equal or have 180 degree phase shift, linearly polarized characteristics are obtained. For the antenna operated at linearly polarized states, bandwidth reconfigurable characteristic is achieved for the different lengths of feed path. The presented work is suitable for multi-polarization and multi-frequency systems.
