Abstract

Infectious diseases related to daily food consumption in Indonesia are increasing. Snack is type of food which contains lot of sugar, salt, an fat, can potentially cause many health problems, one of which is obesity. The prevalence of obesity in Babakan Village, Dramaga Bogor, West Java is 34.4%, with an age range of 18–85 years. This study aims to determine the relationship between consumption patterns of food sources of sugar, salt, and fat and obesity in adults in Babakan Village. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods and cross sectional study. This research was conducted through interviews with questionnaires, 24h recall, and FFQ. This research was conducted in August in Babakan Village, Dramaga District, Bogor, West Java. The results of this study show that there is no significant relationship between consumption patterns of food sources of sugar, salt, and fat and obesity in Babakan Village (p>0.05). The absence of a relationship between consumption of sugar, salt, and fat and the incidence of obesity is thought to be due to the predominance of respondents with normal nutritional status and malnutrition who consume more food sources of sugar, salt, and fat compared to those with obese nutritional status.
