Abstract
A DESCRIPTION of the spectra of ‘northern lights’, both red and the ‘sun-lit’, usually feeble, grey-violet auroras, simultaneously photographed from several Norwegian stations, is supplied by Prof. Carl Stormer. The height of the red auroras was mainly between 100 km. and 500 km., whilst some of the c sun-lit’ auroras had their summit above 800 km. and in one case reached 1,100 km. above sea-level.
