Abstract
Abstract The point biserial correlation is the value of Pearson's product moment correlation when one of the variables is dichotomous and the other variable is metric. Values range from +1, a perfect positive relation; through zero, no association at all; to −1, a perfect negative correlation. The square of this correlation, , is a measure of effect size in terms of the proportion of variability accounted for by the relation between the two variables.
