Abstract

This study is the first part of a larger research project, which aims to study poetry as a form of cultural and spiritual resistance in the system of political prisons of communist Romania. However, the phenomenon of detention poetry did not begin in communist prisons, but is well attested before 1945. The author investigates these poetic manifestations and focuses his research on the detainees who were arrested during the Antonescu years and stayed in prison after 1945. They proved to be a bridge between pre-communist and communist prison poetry.
