Abstract

This paper describes the ways in which the use of poetry in group therapy facilitates therapeutic goals consistent with interpersonal theory. A discussion of the relationship between poetic interventions and Yalom’s therapeutic factors is followed by a case example of an inpatient therapy group. The identification of strengths and limitations of using poetry in therapy conclude the report.
