Abstract

The article explores the impressionistic brushwork of poetry in the prose of O. Kobylanska in the figurative, compositional, poetically levels. Analyzes the role of impressionistic artistic elements in the formation of individual style of the writer. It is argued that impressionism is not a total author positioning, but is represented on a certain segment of the creative path or in the poetry of a particular work as a stylistic enzyme, or as a tangible structural element of the artistic space. The priority aesthetic principles of prose by O. Kobylianska are determined, where impressionism is not a total author positioning, but is represented on a certain segment of the creative way or in the poetry of a particular work as a styled enzyme, or as a tangible structural element of the artistic space. It is noted that the analyzed small prose by O. Kobilyanska is characterized by an objective-psychological narrative type, the objectification of maximum emotions as a characteristic feature of impressionism. It was found out that the individuality of the Kobylianska style is characterized by the evolutionary movement from the neo-romantic aesthetic paradigm to symbolism and impressionism, the considerable functional load of the subjectively-lyrical narrative type in the personal and impersonal forms, the innovative interpretation of the genre of poetry in prose, the wide spectrum of structural means (compositional-figurative contrast, symbolism, impressionistic poetics). The focus is on the fact that the writer’s central thinking for artistic thinking is the worldview and poetics of symbolism, integrated with neo-romantic and naturalistic tendencies. This aspect may be an actual subject of research in further research.
