Abstract
Through an examination of Aristotle's Poetics, this essay argues that poetic and argument are interdependent forms of discourse that share similar methods and ends. Because poetic discourse can argue through both the words and actions of the dramatis personae, poetic adds the dimension of enactment to argument.
