Abstract

This paper aims to analyze, through a series of poetic texts by women in Chile and Argentina, how nation was defined in texts produced during the military regimes as well as during democratic transitions. It means, first, to observe how the idea of nation is presented in the writing of persons who suffered exclusions within the imagined community or have located away from official narratives. On the other hand, it means to explore the relationship that links women's poetry with reflections on national identity in a critical period. In this frame, we would like to demonstrate that, while generating new languages and aesthetics, women's writing also assumes different positions regarding the context in which it emerges. For this study, were considered texts by poets Diana Bellessi and Roberta Iannamico, from Argentina, and by Elvira Hernandez and Alejandra del Rio, from Chile.
