Abstract

The chronic urinary retention is inability to completely empty the bladder because reduction or absence of regular urinary flow. Patients with non-obstructive chronic urinary retention or without an identifiable cause are usually treated conservatively by relying on intermittent self-catheterizations, which significantly affect the quality of their life. The effectiveness of sacral neuromodulation is based on evoking and potentiating the stimulus to urinate. We present a two year follow-up of a case of sacral neuromodulation performed with no Around-The-Clock stimulation of the S 2-4 sacral roots but self-managed by patient according her own needs.
