Abstract
statistically significant reduction (p < 0.05) in the number of freezes and increased stride length with a visual cue while no significant improvement was observed with auditory cues and a combined stimulation. Conclusion: An assisting device, specifically based on visual cues, is beneficial in overcoming FOG in PD patients. Auditory cues that others have shown to improve aspects of gait in PD patients do not appear to have any effect on FOG. Further study is now being conducted to improve the intensity and duration of visual cues in this specially designed walking cane.
