Abstract
Deep brain stimulation to frontal subcortical targets is a promising treatment option for treatment refractory patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Despite the promise of DBS, the long timescale of DBS-induced effects on OCD symptoms complicates short-term clinical decision making, and suboptimal tuning of stimulation and medication dosing may contribute to clinical outcome variability. DBS devices that allow chronic recording of local field potentials (LFP), however, have recently become available, enabling the potential to identify electrophysiological biomarkers that longitudinally reflect the patient’s clinical state.
