Abstract

Strategies to prevent right phrenic nerve [PN] injury during ablation can be difficult to employ, including unsatisfactory complication rates with methods attempting to displace the PN by pericardial manipulation. Single lung ventilation and “intentional pneumothorax” by thoracic insufflation of carbon dioxide may optimize PN protection during delivery of radiofrequency ablation.
