Abstract

Studies show that Transcutaneous Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation (TPTNS) may modulate peripheral spinal reflex excitability. None of these studies evaluated its effects on the ejaculatory reflex. The aim of this study is to evaluate if this therapy is safe and generates a delay in the intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) in patients with premature ejaculation (PE). Phase II clinical trial. Patients with 18 to 50 years of age, with at least a 6-month relationship, having intercourse at least weekly and with a diagnosis of primary PE were included. Patients with erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation diagnostic tool (PEDT) <8, taking ejaculation-delaying medications, using pacemakers, having epilepsy or convulsions, venous insufficiency, cutaneous injuries on the lower extremities were excluded. Patients were required not to use condoms or local anesthetics during intercourse. Participants received 3 TPTNS sessions per week for 12 weeks. IELT, PEDT score, and adverse events were measured at baseline, week 6, and at the end of treatment.
