Abstract

Laparoscopic nephrectomy in a giant hydronephrotic nonfunctioning kidney occupying the most of the abdomen is challenging task. To overcome the difficulty in laparoscopic dissection of such kidneys we described a technique “Pneumorenum,” wherein the kidney is decompressed by suction through a 5 mm trocar inserted directly into kidney under vision. Following suction decompression, the kidney is inflated later during dissection with carbon dioxide gas to moderate size to do the dissection in an easy manner.
